Unhomely
3 - 12 October 2025
The average lifespan of buildings in Iran is short, whereas in other countries it can extend to a century. Undoubtedly, the physical durability of a “home” is directly linked to the endurance of its concept in our individual and collective memory, and its demolition—before its memory is inscribed— renders us inhabitants feeling less connected to the place.
Through her works, Hamideh Sardarabadi reveals this unstable condition: a confrontation with opposing dualities, exposing us to crisis—inner security versus external threat, private space versus public space, reality versus imagination. These conceptual contradictions are echoed in the forms of the artist’s works: harsh versus soft forms, bold colors versus harmonious tones, rigid surfaces versus flexible ones.Bottom of Form
